Brother Vern Kelley

Brother Vern Kelley is the lead minister for the Church at Union City. He first came in contact with the Church of the Latter Rain in 1975 when he noticed a change in the lives of his college friends who were attending the church. A personal experience caused him to wonder what happens to a man when he dies, and that led him to accept his friends’ invitations to visit the church in Berkeley. He began to seek the same joy and peace they had received. After a few visits he was convinced the church was the place he should worship. He received the baptism of the Holy Ghost in 1977 when he called on the name of Jesus meaningfully and with all his might.

Brother Vern has been a faithful member of the church, volunteering on various church teams including dishwashing, maintenance, church clean up and ushers. He was ordained a minister in 1984 and works closely with other ministers to support the church, including: Brother Charles Buffin, Brother Harry Carthan, Brother Rodger Cooper, Brother LJ Douglas, Brother Clyde Hawkins, Brother Earl Johnson, Brother Etienne Johnson, Brother Isaiah Chatman, Brother Terry Fulton, Brother Jerry Blueford and Brother Jeryme Stine.

He is married to Sister Erma Kelley.
